On Sunday, September 17th, from 1 pm-5 pm, Woodlands will hold its annual Community Day, offering the public a rare opportunity to visit the refuge and learn about the incredible wildlife it helps each year. Self-guided tours of the refuge will be available and visitors will meet the resident Sulcata tortoise, Canadian lynx, gray squirrel, eastern box turtle, and a raccoon and hear the stories of how they came to be a permanent part of the Woodlands family.   Due to the nature of its work, Woodlands is normally closed to the public except for patient admissions and scheduled education programs so don't miss this special opportunity!

Community Day is an interactive, fun and educational family day! The afternoon includes self-guided tours, and the Kid’s Den, an interactive area with wildlife focused activities and crafts. Wildlife experts will be on hand to discuss a variety of topics including your wild neighbors, solutions to wildlife concerns, black bears and the state’s threatened and endangered species. These activities and refreshments, sponsored by ShopRite of Hunterdon County, are included in the admission donation. Other activities include Broke Leg Bear book signing by author Loren Spiotta-DiMare and illustrator Key Wilde, and Woodlands’ Gift Shop. All proceeds benefit Woodlands Wildlife Refuge. Woodlands is a 501c3 charity that receives no state or federal funding and relies completely on donations.

Throughout The Day:

1:30pm- About Woodlands Wildlife Refuge- Presented by staff

2:30pm - Snakes-N-Scales' Bill Boesenberg will present an hour long reptile program . The program will include a variety of exotic species Bill has rescued over the years!

4:00pm - Zoo Jersey - 30 minute live mammal presentation

Reservations may be made online above, by calling 908-730-8300 ext 8 or by check to Woodlands Wildlife Refuge P.O. Box 5046 Clinton, NJ 08809.
